There is bad web design, and there is good web design. What most new web authors like to do, and I was no exception, was to have a site that was flashy. Lots of graphics, whistles, and music in the background. As much as this may look nice, the site will be slow, loading up all the graphics and special effects. People will get tired of waiting for the page to load, and click away from your site. Which means, no Traffic, No Sales, No Nothing.

When designing a site, design it to load fast. If you have a high speed connection, find someone you know that is on dial up, and have them see how long the site loads. Anything over 8 to 10 seconds, is to long.

Use an HTML Checker, to check your code. If your coding is bad, the search engines will penalize you.

I have used one HTML editor almost from the get go. It is called Arachnophilia. There are different versions available, but I like the version below. This is a powerful FreeWare HTML editor.

There is a brand new tool on the internet that is awesome. This "tool" is a group of scripts that one can use for all types of effects for web design. It also has a search engine submission tool, a link popularity tool, plus a whole lot of other top notch tools that one can use in designing and promoting your site.
